EBENEZER UNITED CHURCH WOMEN (UCW)
We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, usually at 1:30 pm with the exception of July & Aug. Generally, meetings are held in the church parlour and comprise devotional, often a speaker, offering, business and refreshments. Financially we support a wide range of charitable institutions within the community, our country and around the world as well as our own local church. Several of our members participate in the Prayer Shawl group. During this time of Covid we have managed to continue our meetings via Zoom but look forward to the time when we can reconvene in person once again. In 2021, we had regular business meetings and devotionals. We also had the pleasure of hearing from three excellent speakers: Heila Pitter, Outreach Manager from Bethesda House in Bowmanville, Kay Moore, one of our own, shared information on financial aspects of Lakeridge Presbyterial and her vision of UCW in the future, and Edith Gelbard, spoke on her life, surviving the Holocaust as a hidden Jewish girl. All ladies of the congregation are welcome and encouraged to become an active part of UCW.
